The Not-So-Perfect
Garden Project
Lauren is excited to start a garden at school, but reality quickly sets in. Seeds won't sprout, pests attack, and her friends give up. Just when she’s ready to quit, she discovers her partner Joy lives in a food desert, where fresh produce is scarce. With renewed purpose and support from the local Garden Club, they learn that even the smallest harvest can grow into something much bigger.
Our Story

Lauren and Joy, the main characters of The Not So Perfect Garden, are inspired by two real girls who hold a special place in my heart. Their moms were my cheer coaches in high school, and over the years, I’ve had the honor of mentoring Lauren and Joy as they’ve grown up. What started as a bond through cheer has grown into something much more meaningful. As my Sunshine Princesses in the Miss Florida program, they’re now walking alongside me on this journey of leadership, confidence, and community. Our story is full-circle moments, shared dreams, and growing together, just like the garden in the book.
